Today was a great first day in my books. I arrived at 8:00AM after walking through some muddy, waterlogged streets and started my day. I met with Clayton shortly after I arrived and we started right away, we cleaned the barn for the cow, Poinsettia, and the pony, Gigi and then fed them. After that we did the same with the chicken and turkey yards. That took about an hour, maybe an hour and a half. After that Melanie arrived, she and I brought Poinsettia and Gigi to their paddock, then got started on the hill. We began raking and weeding and eventually dug up four(I think) trees, and planted a few new ones on their place. It sprinkled intermittently through out the morning, picking up around 1:00PM. We ended up deciding that it would be best for me to go home a bit early since we weren't really able to do anything up on the hill. Which I am glad, because I am getting over a cold and I wouldn't have benefited from staying out in the cold rain. There is more foretasted rain for tomorrow, so we will see how that pans out.

The day before the first day, I'm super excited. I'm most excited to help care for the animals, help Melanie with the succulents and basically everything. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the weather for the next week or so, it's not going to be nearly as fun in the rain, especially in the barn.
Today was the first day that I visited my internship on a non-personal level. I have loved City Farmers and visited there many times before. When internship came around, I knew this was the perfect opportunity. I met with Lori, who is basically the boss and my mentors, Melanie and Clayton. Lori showed me around a little bit before she introduced Melanie and Clayton. The plan is for me to work with Clayton for about two hours in the mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I will be helping him with cleaning and feeding the animals. Then I will be with Melanie for the rest of the day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays helping her with the succulents, propagation, pricing and all sorts of things. Thursdays is when I will be working on my project, which is yet to be entirely decided, but we have some ideas. Lori graciously gave me Mondays off since I work on the weekends, I am very thankful for that.
